I thought about what I wanted to do for my group project this year and I decided that I wanted to do something more challenging and unfamiliar for me. Last year I had an idea for a pop music magazine, which I thought turned out well and now I would like to work on a genre like heavy metal or rock. I know this could be difficult and it would require a lot more research and attention but I think it could work well for a music video as these songs tend to be more dynamic and aren't usually slow (ballads). I thought we could do a 'Kings of Leon' video that we would set and film outside of town, somewhere in the country. The setting would play a key part of the storyline as it could show isolation and loneliness, which could reflect on the character's feelings and thoughts.
Another idea that I had was to do a Lady Gaga video, as we could develop some great ideas as a group for a video of hers. As Lady Gaga is an artist that is so different in every new video, this gives us no restrictions on what we could do. Another thing is that Lady Gaga is a very extravagant artist, so the difficulty might be to find props and costumes that would suit her style, as well as a great story line and set. I think if we decided to go with this one, we would have to think of loads of different ideas and decide which ones would be best for the video, and also consider whether we could afford to go with this artist or not.
These are the ideas that I am going to propose to my group in class, and I am hoping that we will all together come to a reasonable conclusion for a band/artist and a song.
